The Nisswa Lions Club submits many news releases throughout the year. They are published to in form the population about our events, projects, donations, and social events. Here is a sample news release.


The Nisswa Lions are sponsoring a fund raiser for Camp New Hope. Camp New Hope is a retreat for returning veterans from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Vietnam. It is located on Glacier Lake near McGregor Minnesota. It is entirely free to the veterans and their families with boats available.

Because wartime doesn't end for the returning veterans and their families, when they arrive home. The effects of combat are often felt throughout their entire life. Through education, training, and counseling Project New Hope heals and helps the veterans and their families adjust back to a normal peace time life. The Minnesota Veterans Service provides free counselors.

            We are sponsoring a golf outing at Grandview Lodge on August 26th, 2010 with a reception and dinner after the day of golfing. Teams of four golfers can enter and play for $100 per golfer. By adding $50 the golfers can sponsor a veteran. The veterans get free  golf, meals, and two nights stay at Grandview Lodge. For a brochure with entry form please e-mail Dell Draves at

            We are also selling raffle tickets for a new Red Mustang convertible which are available at Schaefers Grocery Store and Martin Short Shop in Nisswa.             Minnesota was the first state to setup a Camp New Hope. We now have them in Wisconsin, Iowa and New York with a goal to have one in every state by 2016.
